It’s Game Day and I have yet to update this thing. I’m sorry, also for not posting my conclusion to the 2008 Mets season. It’s written for the most part. I’ll try to finish when I get home tonight. Before I head off to Giants Stadium, I might as well pump out my latest Giants blog.
Sunday October 5, I offered my extra ticket to close family friend Chucky Fish. Chuck is a big Giants fan and we’ve gone to a game together, having a great time. Every couple of weeks during the last few seasons, Chuck and I have had long phone conversations about our Giants, including many where he had called for Eli Manning’s head. Super Bowl XLII changed all that. In that one game we went to a couple of years ago, I brought my Grill to Go, which is propane-fueled. In my rushed state, I brought the wrong canister, which was only half full. I think you can figure out what happened next. Chuck has never let me live that one down.
This game also featured the first appearance of the Uncle Mike. It was great to see him out and in his giddy good spirits. He still loves his Giants.
1) Oh yeah, parking is still a mess. Way to go John Mara. (It was almost a wild good chase to try and find the handicapped section for Uncle Mike. This is really ridiculous. The handicapped section has changed locations every week so far.)
2) Now, although I understand the rules of tailgating in not taking up extra spots, because I hate when I’m trying to find a spot and people do that, but what’s with everyone doing that and the lady security enforcer only picks on us, then walks away after handing a flier? (“Selective enforcement. That’s what I hate about what’s just happened.”~John)
3) Remember that story about me with the propane grill? Chuck is eating his words right now. He’s having trouble lighting the charcoal grill. (Now, he knows I’m a fireman, part of my training was learning how to start fires. You would think he would take my advice for creating the best possible conditions for the fire to grow. Nooooooooooooooo.)
4) “Give that man a Nat Sherman cigar.” This was pretty cool. The Nat Sherman Cigar rolling humidor just came by. Chuck is happy again.
5) While I’m standing next to the grill, I hear an awesome guitar solo ripping behind me. It sounds very Eddie Van Halen-esque. Not only that, but it sounds like a live version. At first, I thought to myself, “I didn’t know Van Halen had a live album.” Then I realized that sounded REALLY live, and I turned around only to find a man with very long hair in a Giants jersey standing on top of a van thrashing away on his guitar Van Halen solos. It was incredible. (I love a good guitar solo.)
6) Side note. The heat in my house has been out the last couple days. The guy just came to fix it. It’s 58 degrees INSIDE right now. (“It’s frickin’ freezing in here Mr. Bigglesworth.”)
7) Mom and Dad were away in
8) Moment of silence for the late former Giant and Giants announcer Dick Lynch……

15) At the half, I met up with my best friend since library school, Nicky. His brother has season tickets in the upper deck on the west side. I told him to meet me at Gate B. I went to Gate A. As soon as I got to Gate A, I realized I told him to go to Gate B. I sssssssssssssssssssstink!
16) And of course, I had to get my lucky Mrs. Field’s cookies. They worked like a charm.

Well that’ll do it for Game 3’s edition of the View from the “Blue” Seats. This game moved the Giants to 4-0, 3-0 at home. We're on a roll now. Of course, in typical Giants fashion, they laid an egg in Cleveland last week, but if they can keep this home winning streak going, I'll be happy. Our next game is today, Sunday October 19, against the 49ers. Originally, my cousin Samantha was supposed to come, but had to back out for a work commitment. In her place is my cousin Donna. My Godmother, Carol, who is also Donna’s sister will also be at the game. Today is Carol’s birthday. Carol said yesterday that she was so excited to go to the game so that she can be with her Godfather and Godson. I never know Uncle Mike was her Godfather. You learn something new every day! Oh crap! I gotta go get her a card. Excuse me please.
